GARDENA, CA — A Silver Alert has been issued for 72-year-old Steven Washington, who was last seen on the evening of July 11 in Gardena, California. His sudden disappearance has left his family and community deeply concerned and desperate for answers.
According to authorities, Steven was last spotted near the 1600 block of West 145th Street, wearing a navy blue windbreaker, gray slacks, and black shoes. Loved ones say he may be confused or disoriented, and he is considered at-risk due to underlying medical conditions that require regular care.
“This is completely out of character for him,” said one family member. “Steven is a loving father and grandfather. He never goes far without checking in. We’re heartbroken and just want him home safe.”
Steven is described as an African American male, approximately 5’9” tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He may be walking or using public transportation, and authorities urge anyone who believes they have seen him not to approach directly but to call 911 immediately.
The California Highway Patrol activated the Silver Alert in hopes that public awareness will lead to a safe recovery.
“We are urging the public — please, check your security cameras, talk to your neighbors, and keep an eye out. Any tip, no matter how small, could help bring Steven home,” said a Gardena Police Department spokesperson.
As the search intensifies, time becomes more critical. Steven’s family continues to hold out hope, clinging to faith and community support in this painful and uncertain time.
