SAN ANTONIO, TX — Authorities have identified the victim in Friday night’s fatal shooting on the city’s Northeast Side as Lenger L. Villalobos Munoz, a man gunned down in his own home by someone police say he knew.
The shooting, which occurred around 9:40 p.m. near the corner of Bulverde Road and Naco-Perrin Blvd, has left a community shaken and a family grieving, as the suspect remains on the run.
According to investigators, Villalobos Munoz and the suspect had a volatile history, marked by several past disturbances reported to police. On Friday night, that tension turned deadly.
Attack Began Outside, Continued Inside
Police say the suspect approached Villalobos Munoz outside his residence and began firing. The victim attempted to flee inside the home and up the stairs, but the gunman followed — continuing to shoot as the victim tried to escape.
Villalobos Munoz was struck multiple times. Despite efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the shooting, the suspect reportedly fled through a back door and escaped in a vehicle later found abandoned near Highway 281 and Wurzbach Parkway. Police have not yet released the suspect’s identity publicly but confirm a manhunt is underway.
Community in Shock
Neighbors say the violence has deeply unsettled the area, which is typically quiet.
“I heard the shots and then saw the lights — police everywhere,” said one nearby resident. “I never imagined something like this could happen right next door.”
Ongoing Investigation
San Antonio Police are continuing their investigation and urging the public to come forward with any information that could help locate the suspect.
Anyone with tips is asked to call SAPD’s Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP.
