“Hero Remembered: Officer Phillip Wagner Killed Preventing Mass Tragedy in Lorain”

Lorain, OH — The community is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of Officer Phillip Wagner, a dedicated Lorain police officer whose heroic actions saved countless lives but cost him his own.

On what should have been an ordinary afternoon, Officer Wagner and his partner stopped for lunch when chaos unfolded nearby. A heavily armed man, carrying more than 30 firearms, intended to unleash devastation at a local park — a place where families gather, children play, and peace is expected. Because of Phillip’s swift and selfless response, that planned massacre never happened.

Phillip Wagner gave his life doing what he loved — serving and protecting his community. His courage and sacrifice prevented an unimaginable tragedy, turning what could have been a day of horror into a testament to heroism. He didn’t hesitate. He acted without fear, embodying the very oath he swore to uphold.

To the community, Phillip was a hero in uniform. But to those at Between the Bun — and to so many others — he was family. “We’ve known the Wagner/Bush family for years,” one heartfelt tribute shared. “Our daughter went to daycare with their kids. We trusted Phillip and Jessica with everything. That’s the kind of people they were — always putting others first.”

Phillip’s life was built on service, integrity, and love for others. Now, as Lorain grieves this unimaginable loss, support is pouring in for his wife Jessica, their children, and the entire Wagner family.

From the depths of sorrow comes gratitude — gratitude for a man who lived and died a hero. Officer Phillip Wagner, 1989–2025, your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

🖤💙🖤 Rest in peace, Officer Wagner.
