Tragedy at Allenmore: Gunfire Shatters Peace at Tacoma Hospital, Leaving Two Wounded

Jefferson Davis Parish, LA-A somber cloud hangs over the small town of Lake Arthur today as news spreads of the tragic death of Chad McClelland, a 46-year-old resident whose life was cut short in a fatal motorcycle crash early Monday morning.

The accident occurred just after 7:00 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 26 in Jefferson Davis Parish. According to Louisiana State Police Troop D, McClelland was riding a 2023 Harley-Davidson when he lost control while rounding a curve. His motorcycle crossed into the southbound lane before veering off the road and into a ditch.

Emergency personnel arrived quickly, but despite McClelland wearing a DOT-approved helmet, his injuries proved fatal. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers noted that while speed and road conditions may have played a role, the crash remains under active investigation. A routine toxicology sample has been collected, and results are pending. No other vehicles were involved.

Chad McClelland was known throughout Lake Arthur for his easygoing spirit, love of the open road, and deep connections to friends and family. News of his passing has shaken the close-knit community, with many expressing disbelief and sorrow over the loss of someone described as kind, dependable, and full of life.

“He lived for his rides,” said a longtime friend. “That bike was his peace, his freedom. It’s heartbreaking to know it’s what took him from us.”

In a public statement, Louisiana State Police offered their condolences, urging all motorcyclists and motorists to remain vigilant.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Chad McClelland,” said the statement. “Every life lost on our roads is one too many. We urge all drivers to slow down, remain aware of road conditions, and prioritize safety—especially when operating or sharing the road with motorcycles.”

McClelland’s death is a sobering reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on Louisiana’s highways, where even a brief moment of instability can lead to irreversible tragedy.

As family and friends gather to mourn, plans for a memorial ride are already underway—an opportunity for the riding community to honor Chad’s life in the way he would have wanted: on the open road.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Rest in peace, Chad. The road may end, but your ride lives on in the hearts of those who loved you.
