MADISON HEIGHTS, MI — A heartbreaking tragedy has rocked the Madison Heights community, as 23-year-old Alex Habib has died after being struck by a driver fleeing police in a stolen vehicle. The incident, which occurred during a high-speed pursuit originating in Roseville, has left a family shattered and a city in mourning.
According to authorities, Roseville Police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle when the suspect sped through multiple intersections, ultimately crashing into Alex Habib, an innocent bystander, who was fatally struck in Madison Heights. First responders rushed to the scene, but despite efforts to save him, Alex succumbed to his injuries.
Alex Habib was known for his bright spirit, kind heart, and deep love for his family and friends. Described as thoughtful, hardworking, and full of promise, his life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of recklessness.
“He had so much life ahead of him,” said a close friend. “Alex was one of those people who made everyone around him better. He didn’t deserve this. No one does.”
The driver of the stolen vehicle has since been taken into custody, and charges are expected to be filed. The investigation remains ongoing.
