What began as an argument between two individuals quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation. When officers arrived on scene shortly after 11:45 a.m., they found Jaida critically wounded from gunfire. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. By early afternoon, the incident was officially ruled a homicide.
Authorities have confirmed that one person is currently in custody in connection with the shooting. Tragically, this deadly altercation occurred just minutes before a separate fatal shooting roughly four miles away on Oak Leaf Drive. Despite the close timing and proximity, KCPD has made it clear the two incidents are unrelated and are being investigated independently.
